Help - Hosting

During the development of your website it cannot be seen by the rest of the world. When we are ready for the website to go live it will be published to a remote computer called a server, and will then be available to the world through the World Wide Web (www). Hosting refers to the space you effectively rent for your website on that remote computer. You will pay an annual rental charge for that space.

Hosting will also provide you with email mailboxes which can be accessed from your own computer.

You may already have your own hosting contract in place - if not I can organise this for you.

Your website will be uniquely known by its Domain Name. This is the www._________  identifier
(e.g. www.bbc.co.uk). You may already have a domain name which can be used to identify your new website. Alternatively, obtaining a new domain name is very straightforward. If the name you would like has already been taken by someone else we will have to go for a name that
is available. Domain Names are subject to a small ongoing registration fee.

If all this sounds too technical or too much hassle, or you simply don’t want to get involved in all this detail, that’s fine  -  I can look after all this for you.
